From artwork to embroidery
What is embroidery digitising?
Embroidery digitising turns your logo or artwork into a file of stitch instructions that an embroidery machine can read. It plans how the design will be sewn, including stitch types, direction and sequence.
A JPG, PNG or PDF shows what your design looks like, but it does not contain those embroidery instructions. Digitising prepares the design for stitching at your chosen size and placement, whether that is a chest logo on workwear or a larger design on the back of a jacket.
You receive digitised embroidery files by email. Physical garments and embroidery production are not included in this service.
Why does your logo need digitising?
Your embroidery machine needs to know where to place each stitch and in what order. Digitising translates the shapes, lettering and details in your artwork into those instructions. It is more than simply saving an image with a different file extension.
Size and fabric make a difference
A small chest logo and a large back design can need different stitch settings. Fabric also affects how embroidery behaves. Tell us the finished dimensions in millimetres, the garment or fabric type and where the design will be placed so the digitising can take those requirements into account.
Thoughtful digitising supports cleaner stitching
Stitch density, underlay and the order in which areas are sewn all contribute to the result. Careful planning can help reduce unnecessary trims and colour changes. The finished embroidery also depends on suitable thread, backing, hooping and machine settings.
Test your file before starting production
Once you receive your embroidery file, run a sample using the fabric, backing and thread intended for the finished job. Check the detail, lettering and overall finish before embroidering a full order. If anything needs attention, contact EMS with your order details and a clear photo of the sample.
