With over 20 years of hands-on decorating experience, EMS understands that buying supplies is part of a bigger job. Talk to a team familiar with the equipment and the work you want to produce.
A hoop, needle or bobbin is only useful if it suits your setup. Send us your machine model and project details so we can help you narrow down the options before you order.
Alongside supplies, EMS offers embroidery machines, digitising and maintenance services. You have somewhere to turn as your requirements change and your business develops.
A little guidance goes a long way
Ordering for a polo shirt, a jacket or a towel? Start with the garment, then work through the design and machine requirements. The right combination matters more than any single accessory.
Keep a record of the thread, backing, needle and settings used for successful samples. It gives you a useful starting point when a customer reorders.
Consider its weight, stretch and surface. A stable woven fabric and a stretchy garment may need different support. Use the product guidance to choose your embroidery backing or stabiliser.
Finished size, lettering and stitch density all affect the job. If your artwork needs preparing for the machine, explore the EMS embroidery digitising service before production.
Confirm your needle system, bobbin type and frame fitting. Hoops and spare parts are not universally interchangeable. Check the listing and machine manual, or ask us with your model details.
Test the actual fabric, backing and thread together. Check the finish before embroidering customer garments, and keep enough of your chosen supplies ready for the planned order.

Know before you order
Consumables are materials you use up or replace as you embroider, such as thread, bobbins, backing and needles. Accessories include reusable equipment such as hoops and frames. Both form part of your embroidery setup.
Start with thread, suitable bobbins, the correct needles, backing and a compatible hoop. You will also need garments or fabric and a digitised design. Check what your machine package already includes before buying additional supplies.
Cut-away backing remains behind the embroidery after excess material is trimmed. Tear-away backing allows excess material to be torn away after stitching and is commonly used with stable fabrics. Choose the type and weight around your fabric and design, then test a sample.
Compatibility varies by product. Check the model, needle system, bobbin specification or frame fitting shown on the listing. If you are unsure, contact EMS with your machine make and model before ordering.
Yes. Tell us what you are embroidering, your machine model and the supplies you are considering. Include fabric details and a photo where useful so the team has the information needed to advise you.
You can shop the consumables and accessories individually. For another machine brand, check each product's suitability carefully. Do not assume that needles, bobbins, hoops or replacement parts fit every machine.
